Hi I’m Gigi Cassel and I’m an Artist, Political Civil Rights Activist and the Founder of TranS Phoenix Rising Arts

The Artistic Practice
I've been creating art since I was a little girl, but it wasn't until my mother gifted me a painting around the age of eight or nine that I realized adults recognized my talent. She shared that my artwork had been traveling around Oregon, displayed in various children's museums and galleries—yet I have no memory of painting it. When I reflect on it now, it reminds me of something by Jackson Pollock.
Throughout my life, I’ve often found myself in special art classes whenever an adult noticed my skills. My grandmother was my greatest teacher; she instilled in me a deep appreciation for the nuances of light, shadow, and portraiture. I have a particular passion for creating portraits and even made some extra money doing commissioned pieces for my classmates while attending Job Corps after graduating from high school.
I invite you to explore the artwork showcased below, each piece reflecting my journey and passion for life. If you’re interested in making a purchase or have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I’d love to connect and help you find the perfect piece for your collection! Framed 8x10 prints of all art below are available for $45 each.
all of the new pieces are available for print sales as well and no cost for shipping by the way. I will be adding soon. What originals are available. I’m also able to be available for commissions if you want something truly personal that really speaks to you on the deepest level of your core.
Prices can be negotiated regarding commission work. Originals of the work you see below are $20 more so 65 hours per original piece.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MYSELF AND EXTENSION OF MY LOVE TO YOU
u
I come from a challenging background; my father was in prison for most of my life, and I lost my mother when I was just 18 years old, just nine days before Christmas, due to complications from an abdominal aortic aneurysm. I've faced homelessness and bullying throughout my school years, primarily because of my disability as an autistic child. Many of the kids at my school were from Mormon or Catholic families, and I was raised by a liberal, low-income mom. She never made me feel bad for being LGBTQ. Although I never came out to her directly, she made it clear that if I did, she would support me.
I understand that these topics can be difficult to discuss, but I want you all to know that art has always been there for me, helping me feel better about myself even during my hardest times. I also understand how challenging it is to navigate life as a poor, transgender, disabled, or. I told my friend, who is also an artist, that if they have work on display here, I would be more than happy to share and give them the profit from their sales. I want everyone to know that it’s okay to talk about addiction—whether you’ve gone through recovery or simply feel different—this is a safe space for you, just like this art website.
I hope all of us can rise like our own transgender phoenixes, overcoming the ashes of our past and moving forward. I love you all, even if I haven’t met you yet.
Love
Gigi
